Sand and Waves

After postponing our trip, we finally made it to the beach over Labor Day weekend.
Top on the list of things to do was playing goofy golf.
So we did.  Two nights in a row.
Katherine still likes to cheat.

One of the places we played at had an arcade
and Jackson spotted Big Buck Safari right off.

Katherine spotted the motorcycle right off.  Lord help us with this child.
Then they found a game with a toilet seat and had to play.
Katherine is still not a fan of the ocean.  She did get
in a little more this time, but she definitely preferred the sand.
Jackson got a boogie board and tried riding in on the waves.

After being rained out last year, we finally got a chance to go on a dolphin cruise.

Zach must have stuck his tongue out at Katherine!

Pretty little girl waiting to see the dolphins!
The captain of our boat found a shrimp fisherman and that's where dolphins like to hang out for an easy meal.  Jackson and Katherine loved watching them jump!

Later that evening, I tried to get a couple of pictures of them.  Zach hates the pictures and the kids aren't very cooperative either.

They finally started to come around.
Just when they're starting to look at me and have true smiles,
Jackson looks like he's choking Katherine.
I did manage to get one--honestly, just one--sweet picture of them.  That picture may show up on the Christmas card.  The jury is still out on that one.
Back in our room after our 2nd night of goofy golf.  Such a sweet smile she gave!  {What can't they flash a smile like that when it's time for pictures?!}
As usual, it was nice to get away and the babies had fun, but vacation with kids is work!

7

We celebrated Jackson's birthday the weekend following his big day!  Grandma and Grandpa came over and brought Emma with them!  Jackson got to open a few presents the night before the party!
Emma and Katherine playing horses.  Katherine is still obsessed with them and she was so happy to have Emma play with her!
 Jackson's cake.
He is still into sharks, so we decided to have a swimming party this year!

I honestly didn't take many pictures at all during his party.  We didn't have a good turn out this year with his friends coming to his party, so he (well, we all were) was a little disappointed.  The good thing about a low crowd was that once the party was over at the pool, we invited his friends over to the house and he got to play longer with those that came!
Happy Birthday to our sweet boy!

Another Day, Another First

Jackson had his first day of 1st grade today!  While Zach was brushing his teeth this morning, Jackson asked, "How long do I have to do this?"  Sorry, bud, it's day 1 of almost 200.

Our two "babies"!
I think Katherine feels so big in her uniform!

 Our sweet Jackson!
We're looking forward to a fun year for both!

The First of Many

Katherine's first day of Pre-Kindergarten was today and
she let us get some cute pictures this morning.

There are really no good words;
words would only boil down to where did my baby go?

She's so excited to be a big girl now and loved going through her school folder this afternoon, but when I think of these two, this is what I picture . . .

my babies.

Seven

Happy Birthday, Jackson!!!
Zach and I have somehow become parents to a 7 year old.  I'm in disbelief and denial that he is no longer my baby.  Thankfully, he still asks me to lay down by him for a few minutes each night and will cuddle for a little while in the mornings.  We couldn't love him more or be more proud!

On the Road Again

Jackson and I have been to Alabama every single weekend in July.  While both he and Katherine were gone to grandparents this past week, I realized I was exhausted!  Anyway, 2 weeks ago, we went to Huntsville to meet sweet Anna!  She's already a month old here and still so tiny and the sweetest baby.

Zach and I didn't tell Katherine that Jackson and I were going to see Anna.  Katherine constantly talks about Anna and holding her.  All Katherine wants these days is a baby sister.  And a horse.

On Saturday, Leslie and I took the boys to the Space and Rocket Center.
Poor William has bunny ears.

Boys and Hummers!

Mr. Bossy

Snoozing by the pool!  It's a good life.
Even though our visits our numbered and short these days, it's always refreshing to see your best friend.  Refreshing at least until it's time to say, "See you next time."
