Whoever coined the phrase, "Daddy's girl" knew what they were talking about

It's Going to Happen

I predict that this little girl is going to suck her thumb.

She gets a bit frustrated since she can't quite figure it out

    

She tries her hardest to wiggle that one magic thumb in her mouth

And then, she gives up and settles for her arm since it's a little bigger and easier to find.  But she's not satisfied and it frustrates her.

Part of me will be relieved when she finally is able to get that little thumb in her mouth and the other part is a bit apprehensive. She knows it's not her fingers she's after, but she just can't manage to get and keep her thumb in her mouth. And then she gets agitated. So, I'll be glad when she figures it out, but . . . I know I'm jumping the gun, but I have no clue how to break a child from sucking their thumb when that time comes. I mean, the thing is attached to her . . . I can't just throw it in the garbage like a pacifier. Jackson didn't suck his thumb and was only mildly interested in a pacifier for just a few months, so I have no experience with either.  But first, I guess I need to step back and make sure she's going to actually find it.

Wordless Wednesday

Playing Together

Jackson jumping and throwing balls when one of the balls actually landed in Katherine's lap.  She wasn't too impressed.

I put Katherine's mat down and Jackson wents nuts acting like he had never seen a mirror in his life.

I was shocked--he gave her his trains to play with!  We'll see how this plays out in the coming months when she can grab them, chew on them, and eventually make off with them.

Alabama

Katherine made her first trip to Alabama last week and is still proving to be a good little traveler.  She went to her first family reunion while there, but sadly I didn't even get our camera out of the car.  We did get some pictures while at the farm though!

We've been told that she has been telling everyone that when she saw Katherine, she was going to hold her this way {doing a cuddling motion} and hold her this way {up on her shoulder} and give her her bottle. And after seeing Katherine, Emma apparently asked her mom why she didn't have a little sister!

And I'm sure this will one day come back to haunt him!

Our Normal

Jackson came running around the corner one afternoon with his hands crammed in his new toys.

Maybe he's telling us he wants some floaties to go swimming?

And, isn't this where everyone keeps their beaters?

We usually tell guests as they arrive at our house, that if they see anything a little odd or out of the ordinary . . . it's Jackson.

Playtime

Katherine took her first trip to Alabama last week and our first somewhat extended trip as a family of four.  While I was packing our things I pulled this out and let Katherine "play" on it for the first time.

I'm sure she's wondering what on earth those things are that hanging down and touching her.  I never know where they want to be put at this age . . . whether to let those toys touch them since they can't grab, or push her back a little to just look?  Oh well, she was content for a few minutes . . .

Just for Size

Katherine is two months old!

She had her 2 month check-up this morning and she came in at the 25th percentile for everything.  Her doctor looked at her chart and said, "she's perfect!"  But we already knew that!

Her stats are

9 lbs., 15.5 oz.

22 in. long

15 in. head circumference

I was a little concerned with her weight since Jackson was already over 11 pounds at 2 months and weighed less at birth than Katherine.  The doctor quickly reminded me once again that there are different growth charts for little girls and boys.

We're just thankful for a healthy and beautiful little girl!

All it Takes

We received a toy catalog in the mail yesterday and I thumbed through it and saw there were a few pages of train items.  When Jackson woke up from his nap, I opened the catalog to those pages and called his name.  He turned around, looked, and said "WOW!!  CHOO-TRAINS!" 

And that was it . . . he was in heaven!

She's smiling because her parents woke up happy and rested this morning!  Katherine slept straight from 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.!!

I wish I could say she was in her bassinet or crib during that time, but she was snuggled up next to her favorite person--her Daddy!
