Halloween!

We've been getting ready for halloween the last couple of weeks by taking a trip with my parents to a pumpkin patch, carving pumpkins, and making cupcakes!  While Zach and I carved our pumpkins, Jackson and Katherine played on the floor and posed for a couple of pictures.
Hugs and kisses!
Katherine got to wear Jackson's pumpkin slippers!
Jackson in his slippers in 2007.
This was taken while Zach and I were carving pumpkins for Jackson's 1st halloween.  He was obviously very excited!

 Our pumpkins for this year

Jackson helped me make cupcakes last night and enjoyed himself!
 Our cupcakes!
And tonight!  Jackson refused to dress up.  He was supposed to be a construction worker, but the best we could do was to get him to wear his hard hat.
We stopped by houses of people we knew before heading back home.  Last year Jackson enjoyed passing out candy more to trick-or-treaters than us going door-to-door, so that's what we let him do again this year.  He did great until we started getting low on candy and he decided to run off with the last few pieces of candy!

Apparently Jackson isn't much on halloween or dressing up (or Santa Claus either).  We only have a few pictures of him dressed up from his first halloween since he cried the entire time he was in his costume.

His sister, however, let us take as many pictures as we wanted!

Happy Halloween!

3:24 p.m.

In case you were wondering what we do most everyday around 3:24 in the afternoon, this is it . . .
We sit on the front porch and wait for the school bus to come by.
Actually, there are two buses that pass by, usually 1 minute apart
And when he spots the first one, he forgets whatever else is going on, sits straight up,
 and watches in amazement.
Occasionally, we'll get lucky and both buses will pass at the same time
So just in case you ever wondered what we're doing at 3:24 p.m., we're usually sitting outside waiting on the buses.

Soon

It won't be too much longer until some little girl figures out how to get around
She figured out how to get on her knees and arms this past Sunday and rock back and forth.  By the following day, she was trying to push up and straighten her arms.  Having a baby that crawls will be new for us since Jackson really never crawled.  The few times he did, it was 'army' stlye and was right before he started walking.  Jackson isn't going to know what to think when she can get into his toys by herself!

Little Giggles

Jackson has been sweet to Katherine ever since we brought her home, but just in the last two weeks he has seemed to really start to enjoy her.  She is getting to where she can interact more with him (as in pull his hair and laugh) and he enjoys taking her toys away.  I hear 100 times a day, "No, it's mine."  Anyway, we get huge smiles from Katherine when she sees Jackson or he plays with her.
Here she is waking up after a nap and the first thing she sees is him leaning over her crib.
A new game.
His current version of playing peek-a-boo with her
Jackson wanted to sit in the rocker with her, but refused to look at the camera
Laughing with each other!  I'm sure she's about to yank his hair!
The other night at supper we had Katherine on a pallet on the floor and Jackson took his plate and sat with her!
She's just starting to sit unassisted, so being the original parents that we are, she's surrounded by pillows in case of a little topple.  (Notice how her toes are curled--they are always like this, as are her Daddy's!)
It's sweet to watch them laugh together and start to enjoy each other!

All I Want For Christmas

Over the last couple of days, I've noticed Jackson taking a liking to 'toys' he's finding around the house.  I'm glad we haven't started breaking the bank yet for traditional Christmas presents!

Travels and a Warning

Zach I and just made it home from a trip to Charleston, SC, and Savannah, GA, sans our two little kiddos.  We had a great time, but of course, missed Jackson and Katherine.  We've only been home a couple of days, but already are back in our daily routine making the vacation almost seem like it was a month ago rather than just last week!

Close-ups of Katherine's teeth!
Just click on the picture to make it larger

I can't leave out any pictures from our trip, so here are some.  The pictures are mainly of churches, graveyards, and architecture, since that is what you are surrounded with while in both of the cities!

Starting off in Charleston
Ft. Sumter

We've made it to Savannah and here is Savannah's "Waving Girl"

At Bonaventure Cemetery which became well-known with Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.  Following the movie, the "bird girl" statue was moved from the cemetery to a local museum, so we didn't get to see it.
Chippewa Square-the square in Savannah where Forrest Gump sat on the bench while eating his chocolates and telling his life story.  This is actually the side opposite where he sat, but the city removed the bench he sat on, and this side is prettier!

Like the new background?  I'm not too fond of it, but it's what you will see on here for a while to come.  I was trying to change the background to a Halloween theme and somehow managed to "update" to the newer blogger templates.  It has been nothing short of a nightmare trying to figure everything out.  Everything on the sidebar was missing and the spacing in my posts was all messed up.  Long story short, don't upgrade your template (the template is different from the background, but be careful) while attempting to change your background.  You'll regret it.

Just for Size

WOW!!!  Katherine is SIX months old!!
I honestly cannot believe that in another six months, we will be celebrating a 1st birthday!  I know I've commented on it before, but time really has flown now that we have two babies. Katherine is such a sweet baby (at least when she's not teething!) and makes each of us smile daily.  She is paying attention to Jackson more and more, which has led them to become more interactive with each other, and it has been so much fun to watch!  We couldn't have asked for a sweeter little girl!
Her current stats are
13 lbs. 8.5 oz.
24.5 in. long
16 in. head circumference

Radio Flyer

Jackson still likes to take a spin in this little car on occasion, but I was just telling Zach tonight that I think it's time we retire it for awhile since he can barely cram his long legs in it.  Then lo and behold, I put Katherine in it, she grabbed the wheel, held herself up, and looked at me as if, "Well, let's get going!"
Of course, she had to taste test it first
Now this is what big brothers are for

Don't just stand there, get to pushing this bad boy around
