Proving Me Wrong

At first glance, this picture looks like a continuation from the previous post.
And it was, almost
Jackson's version of tailgating.
He is becoming obsessed with heavy equipment, so we're now adding tractors, cranes, dump trucks, garbage trucks, fire trucks, school buses, etc. to our train collection.  This picture is off the subject of the post (sort of), so let's get back on track.

He was playing with his trucks and dirt on the tailgate of Zach's truck when I brought the camera out to annoy him (not really, he's just cute while he plays and I wanted a picture).  Well, I did annoy him as you can tell from the first picture, but then he actually started having some fun and I walked away with these gems . . .

The secret?
He was throwing dirt at me.
And obviously having the time of his life.

The Camera

This is what Jackson thinks of the camera.
This is what I face 98% of the time when I pull out the camera to try to take a picture of him. We were in the middle of playing "monster" and he was squealing, laughing, and running through the house smiling, and I wanted to try to catch a smile.  I tried to sneak the camera out and snap, but he saw it.  In the picture he's standing by the computer armoire where I keep my camera, and while crying, he's telling me to put it up!

That picture made me think of this one from March 2009.
The backyard was in full bloom (obviously no flowers where he's at-he knows what he doing!) and I was trying to get some pictures of him in front of the flowers.  He was running to me in this picture, stopped, started pouting and would not quit making this face until I hid the camera!

Farewell

to summer.
You've been brutal this year and for all in this house, we can't say we'll be particularly sad to see you go.  And for fall, we're hoping you stick around for a couple of months and won't tease us with these "refreshing" temps (even if there is a chance of rain).

2 weeks

We're still around, we've (or Zach has) just been busy.  Zach had a murder trial last week, so he was swamped every day as well as weeks prior.  His mom came over to keep Jackson and Katherine and I was able to watch the trial, which is the first trial I've ever seen of his from opening to closing arguments.  He and his co-counsel did great and all of their hours paid off.

Jackson has been a little neglected on here since the last 3 posts were of Katherine (mainly because she sits still and for the most part cooperates with the camera).  I have a few pictures of Katherine as well, but the majority are of Jackson.  So, on to the last couple of weeks.

How the majority of our day was today.
I think she's teething and I hope those suckers pop through quickly.

Someone wanted in on the fun of feeding Katherine.
She really only likes cereal and sweet potatoes.  She wasn't much on these green beans, but Jackson did have a little luck (and only fed her 2 spoonfuls in case your were concerned).

Brother's toys are fun

A foreshadowing, I'm afraid.

Kitty Cat is still hanging around.
We haven't come up with any other name and this is what Jackson still calls her.

Occasionally he'll let me catch a smile!

Reading to Kitty Cat last night

And outside today playing while Katherine was taking a nap
Hopefully it won't be another 2 weeks before the next post!

Smitten

Katherine enjoyed a little flavor last night for the first time!  She had sweet potoates, which was her first solid other than bland cereal.  She seemed a little shocked at first, but then warmed up to the new taste.
Here she is when I feed her . . .
a pretty indifferent expression.

But, here she is today when her Daddy feeds her sweet potatoes . . .
I would like to say she's flashing a smile because she loves her sweet potatoes, but I think she's working her Daddy and letting it show that she is a little smitten with him!
She could care less what he feeds her as long as he is around!
It's apparent she's in heaven

Just For Size

We're at the 5 month mark!!
I am in complete disbelief that this time next month, Katherine will be SIX months old.  I know everyone always comments how time flies, but with two kids, the time really is flying, much faster than I remember with Jackson.
Katherine is weighing around 13 pounds and is finally starting to wear size 3-6 months clothes.  Yes, you read that right.  She is 5 months old and just now slowly moving into this size.  She is still in size 1 diapers, although they're beginning to get a little snug.  I've been remembering lately that one of Katherine's nurses in the hospital commented shortly after her birth, that since she was Frank breech, it was like having a 12 or 13 pound newborn.  Although she is still small, I just cringe at that thought when looking at her size now!  And all without an epidural.  Anyway, I digress.

When Katherine wakes up in the mornings or from naps, Jackson runs to her crib and starts saying, "Hey, Baby!"  He has called her "Katherine" a few times, but obviously still prefers to call her Baby.  Here they are this morning

My big helper lending a hand after a diaper change.

She has finally discovered that she has two feet!

New Tricks Up Her Sleeve

Katherine has been trying to roll over for a few weeks. She knew to kick her leg over, but ultimately those pesky and chubby little arms kept getting in her way! She finally figured it out this past Tuesday! The same day, she also discovered her feet! Or, I should say, she discovered her right foot. She usually only grabs her right foot while keeping her left hand in her mouth! She's a multitasker already!
Here she is in action!

Next on her agenda: crawling! She's already working hard to get her knees underneath her!
