Tree Hunting

We went to the tree farm last weekend and picked out our Christmas tree!
We picked out 2 or 3 before settling on one.  Jackson took a picture of me and Katherine in front of the first one we chose!
Jackson is into hunting and had to take his toy gun with him, just in case there was something hiding in the trees that might attack.

At one point we had picked out the tree behind Katherine, and another family was coming in the area where we were.  She promptly let them know this tree was taken.
Finally, we decided on a tree!
We're headed back tomorrow to bring it home!
Uh oh!  Jackson spotted a wild animal before we left.
 Oh no!  Under attack!
And that was our cue that is was time to leave.

A Little Squirrelly

A quick catch-up from November--
Jackson has discovered hunting games on his 'phone', so before we went to the cabin early in the month, Zach bought Jackson his first set of camo and took him squirrel hunting.  They didn't stay out long and didn't see anything, but there's always next time!

We started celebrating Christmas early when Katherine spotted a Gingerbread barn complete with a horse, so we had to give it a try!  I must say that it didn't turn out too bad . . . we're making small improvements every year!  By the time they graduate from high school, we'll be creating masterpieces.  Ha!

We headed to AL for Thanksgiving.
Katherine had been sick and extremely moody, so before taking a group picture I told her if she smiled for the picture she could have some candy.  She promptly gave me a smile and asked for her candy.  Too bad she didn't save this smile for the group picture.

We stuck around the house on Black Friday and had fun playing chase!

Falling Behind

Whew!  I never thought I'd be almost a month behind, but that's life.  Jackson and Katherine went to a festival the night before Halloween, so we had a chance for pictures before Halloween night.

Our cowgirl in heaven!

Halloween finally arrived!

We weren't out for too terribly long before the bottom fell out. We were soaked within 1 minute.  We knew bad weather was a threat, but there was no warning the rain was about to start.  One second we were dry, the next we were drenched.  Needless to say, our trick-or-treating was cut short.
I managed to get a picture before the rain cut short the fun.  I love this picture . . . Jackson is the one that usually puts his hand around Katherine, but if you look close you can see she's put her arm around his shoulder.
We had a fun evening, but hopefully next year we can stay out a little longer!

Super Hero

Jackson said early on that he wanted to be Batman this year!  I'm not sure where he came up with the idea unless some of his classmates mentioned Batman.  I'm just happy he wants to dress up . . . Halloweens were rough around here the first few years!

Katherine is always dressed up as a Cowboy these days.
When asked if she's a cowgirl, she'll quickly correct you that she's a cowboy.  :)
I'm bummed her face wasn't in focus, but it's too cute of her not to include.

Our cowboy was aggravated that Batman wouldn't leave her alone.  Batman may have been causing pandemonium rather than saving the day.

One of my favorites of Jackson.  I can't believe how big he is.
It's safe to say the Vaughns are ready for Halloween!  Now, we just need to find all the candy that we hid too well from the munchkins.

Pumpkins Galore

Jackson and Katherine went to the pumpkin patch recently with Grammy and Grandpa.  Katherine then went to another pumpkin patch with her new preschool class the following week, and Jackson's class has an upcoming trip scheduled!  We're keeping the pumpkin patches in business.

Jackson is getting so big.

CHEESE!!!
Katherine had been saying she wanted a baby pumpkin,
and that's just what she picked out!

The last thing Katherine wanted to do was smile.

A real Angry Birds!  Jackson loved it!

Wild Side

I realized yesterday it's been almost TWO weeks since I picked up my camera, and it's almost been that same amount of time since the last post.  To help rectify the situation, I went through pictures of our trip to the zoo when Grandma was here.
We are fortunate to have a really nice zoo for the size town, and to top it off, over the last year a new portion has just been added.
This goose kept letting Jackson know it was too
close to some eggs Mama Goose was sitting on!

The petting zoo and splash pad were added in the
past year and are a hit with these two!

Katherine took a spill and hurt her elbow,
but it didn't take long before she was back out and smiling again!
They had a good time and we picked a perfect day to go!
