The Greats

We made our first trip to Mississippi this weekend as a family of four.  Katherine and I had a whirlwind surprise trip a few weeks ago, but this was our first all together.  She's proving to be a pretty good traveler like Jackson was at this age.  She doesn't sleep as much as he would, but so far she's usually not fussy while she's awake and strapped in.  Jackson, on the other hand, is content for a few hours as long as he has a DVD playing in front of him, and for those hours we are thankful!

Katherine got to see all of her great-grandparents on Saturday
With Mimi and Pop
They saw her during her first visit and dropped by again to see the cutie!

4 generations
With my mom and MamaRay

Not technically part of the family, but she might as well be since she's been a great and longtime family friend, Mrs. Linda dropped by to meet and hold Katherine

I finally caught some smiles on the camera!  I'm a little bittersweet about these smiles, since she'll only smile like this for her Daddy!

And what good is a post without one picture of the big brother?

The Baker

Every time we read this nursery rhyme, Jackson  points to the Baker and says, "Mama"
I'm a little concerned

The Zoo

We had planned to head to the Little Rock Zoo today so we could get out of the house, but Jackson was acting like he was not feeling the best and a little cranky, so we went to a small zoo about 45 minutes away.  We tried to go to this zoo on Jackson's first birthday, but it happened to be closed because of a rodeo parade in the town.  Thankfully, we had better luck today

Jackson liked the deer and didn't hesitate to stick his hand in and pet them (I didn't get a picture of that), but what he liked the best was
the rocks
and bamboo stalks.
We obviously took him for the animals, but all he wanted to do was look at the animals for 1.8 seconds and then grab a handful of rocks and throw them in mud puddles.  Or tear down the bamboo.

Anyway, here is Katherine enjoying her first trip to the zoo

Rocks and Rolls

Katherine just hit the 6 week mark and look at those rolls appearing!  I think she's well on her way to becoming a cute little chunky monkey!

Earlier this week we noticed she has started watching the ceiling fans and her mobiles!

Still loving his sand table

and rocks!

Katherine has honestly been holding her head up since the day we brought her home.  Of course, she still doesn't have much control with it, but she keeps it up longer and longer each week
We put her down on her back this morning and when we checked on her next, this is how we found her . . . just 6 weeks old and she's somehow already flipped over!

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

I told Jackson to hug his sister if he loves her and this is what I got . . .

So sweet

Yeah, I'm lying.
He's only smiling like this because for the first time he managed to "pick" her up and knows he's getting away with something pretty darn big.

Concert

Jackson's school had its spring concert on Thursday and this is his class along with the 3 and 4 year olds. He is in the 18 month-2 year old class and all the 2 year olds just sat there! It's still cute even though he/they really didn't do too much (and I know the grandparents want to see it anyway!). Toward the end, Jackson saw Zach taking his picture and darted for him!

Following the concert and the first picture of the three of us!  Even though Jackson is playing with a balloon and not looking, he is smiling, so I'll take it!

Sweet as Candy

Is it bad when your child calls this "chocolate" rather than brown?
He is definitely my child!
Looks like I'll have to keep my chocolate stash hidden!

And yesterday we were playing in Jackson's room when he dumped out his blocks.  After a few minutes and on his own, he grabbed a handful to share with Katherine!
He may be sweet and share some of his toys, but his blankets are still off limits!  Zach and I were messing with him the other day by taking one of his blankets and draping it over her.  He would immediately yank it off . . . after several minutes of this, he finally got annoyed with us, looked at us in all seriousness and said in his most stern 2 year old voice, "NOT Baby's."  Needless to say, we got the message!

Just For Size

Katherine is already ONE month old!
Life has certainly been different with two little ones!
I couldn't decide which picture I liked better, so I'm posting both!

Seriously

A marshmallow dipped in syrup
What are his parents thinking?

Stats

This little sleepyhead had her one month checkup a few days early.
Her stats are
8 lbs., 2 oz.
19.5 in. long
14 in. (I think!) head circumference

And a shot of the two for good measure
