Earth

Jackson had his very first school project last month.  His class learned about the planets, and each student chose a planet for his project.  Jackson chose Earth.  He said it's his favorite, but I think it's his favorite because all the pictures of Earth are blue and green.  Blue is his favorite.  :)
His 3 facts he had to research and present to his class:
He came up with 2 of the 3 facts on his own!
Can you guess which ones were his?!

Katherine can't be left out.
She's such a pretty little thing.

Smell my Feet

We did go trick-or-treating this year!  I thought Friday was a great night for trick-or-treating, but our city thought otherwise.  Because the football game on Friday was a home game, the city moved trick-or-treating to Thursday.  Zach and I were not pleased since we had to rush homework and make the kids go to bed at a normal time rather than fully enjoying the night.  But, I digress.

Jackson was a soldier and Katherine was a mermaid.
Jackson creeped me out and put this mask on at the last minute.

Field Trip!

Jackson finally had his first field trip of the year!
They started out with a 30 minute train ride to a homestead
with a day's worth of activities.

Below is the "Mystery House".  It's built on a huge incline and you can't walk vertical inside--you're always at a slant.  It plays with your mind and makes you dizzy.  At least it made the parents feel that way!  The kids never seem to mind.
Jackson wanted me to walk through with him just once, and he said he would hold my hand.  He was being sweet and I couldn't say no, so I went through with him.  The little stinker decided halfway through he wanted to do something else and dropped my hand and ran off.  I had to fend for myself on getting out.  Boys.

The Shooting Gallery was one of his favorite houses of the day!

Gem mining wasn't far behind the Shooting Gallery
on the list of favorite things to do.
The day was enjoyable and it was nice going somewhere we haven't been before!

Fair Fun

The weather was beautiful last weekend and the fair was 'in town', so we headed north!  No doubt Jackson and Katherine enjoyed themselves!
Well, maybe Jackson didn't enjoy this one so much.
He's not much on heights.
Katherine was only upset because I wasn't riding with her.
Thanks for the fun, Grammy and Grandpa!

Skating and Such

It's obvious I'm working again.  Actually, I've been back to work a year this week and the blog has obviously suffered.  I only took 50 pictures the entire month of September.  I guess it changes also when both kids are in school all day and you can't go on outings to the zoo or museum and later share pictures.
We have been enjoying the drop in temperature lately.  Last month we had a few beautiful afternoons and it was just too pretty to make Jackson go inside to do homework.  Instead, they had a lawnmower chase.  Much more fun than spelling words or math.
Jackson went to a skating party for a friend today.  He did better than I thought and actually put on the skates!  He and his friend Ethan are in the same class again, which was great since they were both transferring to a new school.
This party was for a little girl and he didn't want to go since it was a girls' party.  On the way home, he told me we could add her to his birthday list for his next party.
I guess he thought her party was fun.  :)
He stayed close to the wall when he got on the rink!
I was bummed the party was during the Ole Miss/AL game.  I actually listened to the game on the radio while we were driving over (that's a first) and thought for sure there would be a tv showing the game.  Nope.  Of course it was over by the time we got back home, but at least it had a happy ending.  Sorry, Grandpa.

Sand and Waves

After postponing our trip, we finally made it to the beach over Labor Day weekend.
Top on the list of things to do was playing goofy golf.
So we did.  Two nights in a row.
Katherine still likes to cheat.

One of the places we played at had an arcade
and Jackson spotted Big Buck Safari right off.

Katherine spotted the motorcycle right off.  Lord help us with this child.
Then they found a game with a toilet seat and had to play.
Katherine is still not a fan of the ocean.  She did get
in a little more this time, but she definitely preferred the sand.
Jackson got a boogie board and tried riding in on the waves.

After being rained out last year, we finally got a chance to go on a dolphin cruise.

Zach must have stuck his tongue out at Katherine!

Pretty little girl waiting to see the dolphins!
The captain of our boat found a shrimp fisherman and that's where dolphins like to hang out for an easy meal.  Jackson and Katherine loved watching them jump!

Later that evening, I tried to get a couple of pictures of them.  Zach hates the pictures and the kids aren't very cooperative either.

They finally started to come around.
Just when they're starting to look at me and have true smiles,
Jackson looks like he's choking Katherine.
I did manage to get one--honestly, just one--sweet picture of them.  That picture may show up on the Christmas card.  The jury is still out on that one.
Back in our room after our 2nd night of goofy golf.  Such a sweet smile she gave!  {What can't they flash a smile like that when it's time for pictures?!}
As usual, it was nice to get away and the babies had fun, but vacation with kids is work!
