Weekend

Grammy and Grandpa came down one day last weekend and Jackson kept them occupied by playing trains.  The person in front was the engine, the laundry basket was a coal car, and I guess Jackson was the caboose!  This lasted a good while with the train speeding up and slowing down regularly!

Katherine was more interested in putting things in between her toes
After they tired of trains, they rested about 15 minutes while watching Toy Story.
Later, they found themselves in Jackson's room and at some point I walked around the corner to find Jackson sitting on his dresser with a lamp on his head.  I took a picture and didn't ask.
I'm pretty sure they both enjoyed the attention for the day!

The next morning, I was up early with Katherine (she is our early riser so on the weekends, Zach and I usually alternate who gets up with her while the other gets a little extra sleep).  She was being nosier than usual, so to keep her from waking up Jackson and Zach, I decided we would go outside for a photo shoot--before 7 am.

My favorite from the morning
We were playing with bows and I had just put this one in and didn't realize it was right on top of her head until after the picture.  I love her little smile and for some reason she makes it extremely hard to get this smile in a picture!

Later in the day, we were playing in Jackson's room when Zach cranked up the tractor and they both jumped up to catch a glimpse!
And at some point following, playing nicely together!

Just for Size

Katherine is 15 months old today and celebrated by having a scheduled check-up and receiving two shots.  I really had no idea she would be getting immunizations today and my heart sank for her when that was mentioned.  (I know, I know, she's the second child and I should have remembered when immunizations are given.  Then again, she is the second child and my hands and memory are pretty full.)  Anyway, she's in great health and developing perfectly (except that she's still off the chart in her weight).

Her 15 month stats:

17 lbs., 14 oz.
30 5/8 in. long
17 7/8 in. head circumference

In celebration of 15 months, I finally got my act together and made a collage from her monthly pictures of her first year!  Just click on it and should open slightly larger.

Ice Cream

Occasionally we'll hear an ice cream truck go through the neighborhood, and of course Jackson also hears the blaring music and will ask what that is.  We usually tell him it's just a truck or something along those lines (yes, I know we're mean).  We were outside last Friday when we heard the ice cream truck coming and Zach caved and asked Jackson if he wanted ice cream.  Now Jackson knows all about the ice cream truck and since then has asked at least once a day when it is coming by again!
Excited!
Before we headed inside for the evening, I caught Jackson sharing with KC.

Katherine, where's your . . .

Belly Button?

Eye?
Um, close.
Katherine, where's your eye?

Toes?
Throwing her hands out while saying slurring, "I don't know."  Actually, toes were the first body part she learned and she's a pro at telling you where they are, she was just a little distracted by this . . .
Yes, she has actually started saying "I don't know" and "Daddy go work" just in the last couple of days.  It's not the clearest thing in the world, but I'm 98% sure that's what she is saying.  Her vocabulary and communication skills have really exploded in the last month.  We're pretty much in awe.

Before we headed inside for naps, she let me snap this keeper . . .

Reunion

Last weekend we headed back to Alabama for a reunion.  Emma was at Grandma and Grandpa's when we arrived on Thursday night, so Jackson and Katherine had extra time to play with her on Friday before the reunion on Saturday!

The best I could get of the three of them
Airplane!
Contently watching Jackson and Emma play with their cousins Carson and Sam
Carson is on the dance team and was practicing a routine, so Zach decided to join her.  Smiling here,
but this is what she really thought of Zach's moves!
Sam racing Emma
Carson and Sam were so sweet playing with them!
Grandma and Grandpa wanted pictures with the babies.
This was one of the better ones--
most of them looked like this . . .
one more decent one
After pictures, it was time to play with the water hose!
{Remember I've mentioned Jackson hates wearing wet clothes, and well, his clothes had gotten a little wet.}
Jackson may hate wet clothes, but Grandma just plain hates being wet!
Katherine watching Jackson and Emma terrorize Grandma
The chair she is in is her great-grandfather's.  It was made by her great-grandfather's grandfather.  Follow?  Katherine's great great great grandfather made it.

Emma's turn!
Jackson got the hose back,
and once again turned it on Grandma as she walked by!
After the water fun, it was time to get cleaned up and in the bed to rest up for the reunion the next evening.
Katherine giving me a look early on at the reunion
Jackson pulling Emma and Katherine around
Towards the end of the reunion {and after we were all hot and sweaty!}, it was time for a group picture!
Jackson and Katherine enjoyed themselves and especially had fun with Austin, Carson, and Sam!  They love all of the attention from the "big kids"

Pouty Face

One of Jackson's latest pouty "faces"
He has perfected poking/curling his bottom lip out, I just wish I could get a good picture of it!

More Toys

Around here, fly swatters are the "toy" of the moment.
This morning, they were running in circles around the couch fighting over one fly swatter . . . thankfully we had a second.
{In case you were wondering, yes they are both in pajamas and with cups of chocolate milk watching Alvin and the Chipmunks while still trying to take the other's swatter.  And what you're really wondering . . . fly swatters as a toy?  Don't worry, they just came from the store and have yet to be used.}

Sharing

I recently caught the two munchkins sharing . . .
 {or maybe more like one was attacking, but still}

Playing Together

A rarity
Afterwards, they both rediscovered the ball and actually played together
Katherine was almost running after the ball!
I've never seen her little legs move that fast!
Once she got the ball, she threw it, and they both chased after it!
I think Jackson was impressed.
They were fun to watch . . . all 2 minutes that this lasted!
